I saw he re-designed his whole bot and the mechanism to a new SCARA type robot. He had created a smaller version of with a similar mechanism. I decided to try and see if anyone had built a DIY version of this table that I could perhaps take on myself before dropping thousands of dollars.Įventually I stumbled upon a UK Engineer named Rob Dobson’s personal blog page. Checking their page, I was disheartened by the prices of the full wooden coffee tables, but I still considered it. This is the first time I had seen something so captivating that I immediately wanted one. I forget exactly how, but one day browsing the internet I came across the kickstarter for the sisyphus table, and was blown away. I have also created a forum for Sand Table Questions and Answers here: – I figure this will be easier to read than the condensed comments section under the post. So after reading this, if you have questions, please see my new post. See this article.NOTE I have created a new post detailing how to configure the sand bot once you have it running. You will need to disable this setting to allow our app to connect with your Sisyphus. TP Link routers use a setting called AP Isolation. This is known to cause connectivity problems for our product and others such as printers. Asus routers may be using a setting called "Airtime Fairness".Home Network Protection must be disabled. FIOS routers are known to block communication. You may need to check with the manufacturer of your specific router to find these settings. We have a list below of some of the common routers we have dealt with.If you cannot disable this feature, you will be unable to connect your Sisyphus to the internet. This is commonly used on College or communal networks. This prevents Sisyphus from being updated or controlled via app while on the local network. Follow wireless > professional > airtime fairness > set to disableĪlso called Client Isolation or Guest Isolation mode, it provides internet to devices, without allowing them to communicate with other devices on the network.Log in to your wireless router settings. It can cause low bandwidth devices such as Sisyphus to fall off the network or be non-responsive. “Airtime Fairness” or “WiFi Multi-Media (WMM)”Ĭertain New routers in brands such as Asus, Netgear, Cisco, and Ubiquiti may have these features. These settings are referred to as "peer-to-peer", "client communication", "client isolation", "guest isolation" or other terms depending on the router you use. Router security/firewall: If your router has a firewall or other security measures your Sisyphus may not connect to it or may connect but be unable to update its firmware. Please see the owner's manual for your router for how to complete this step.Temporarily "forget" the 5.0Ghz network from your saved WiFi networks list on your smart device WiFi settings.Change the SSID (name) of the 5Ghz network band, so it does not match with the 2.4Ghz SSID, if this is unsuccessful. We recommend the following troubleshooting steps: Network naming and password for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks: Dual-band routers at times can route Sisyphus to the incorrect band. This one and this one have been tested and work well. It must have additional USB ports for the Sisyphus to function. New tables without an ethernet port can use a USB adapter/hub.Older tables with an ethernet port can be hardwired to the network.Recent tables with only one USB will need a USB hub.Upgrade wireless adapter to Edimax AC600.If you suspect this to be the case, we recommend the following: Interference and wifi strength: The wireless adapters are sensitive to interference in environments with high wireless activity or when the router is too far away. Unable to connect to the wifi hotspot: If you have a new table and you can see the Sisyphus hotspot in your device's WiFi list but you are unable to connect to it, please use the " Force Hotspot" function to remedy.
